From CU-TFL to TH-TFL
The Center for Thai Proficiency Test of Thai as a Foreign Language is an academic collaboration project between the Sirindhorn Thai Language Institute, Chulalongkorn University, and universities in Thailand that offer Thai language courses for foreign learners or have foreign students enrolled in their programs. The center aims to jointly conduct Thai proficiency tests in listening, reading, and writing skills for non-native Thai speakers.
The objective of this Thai proficiency testing center is to promote the Thai language internationally and provide foreign learners with the opportunity to assess their Thai language proficiency under a common standard. The Sirindhorn Thai Language Institute, which has been administering the CU-TFL (Chulalongkorn University Thai Proficiency Test of Thai as a Foreign Language) since 2010, has sought collaboration with various universities in Thailand to jointly conduct proficiency tests in three language skills: listening, reading, and writing. The institute serves as the central coordinator responsible for preparing test sets, which participating universities then use to administer the exams for non-native Thai learners.
Participating universities handle the application process, arrange testing venues, and oversee the examination process according to Thai language proficiency testing standards for non-native speakers. University personnel from participating institutions receive annual training on test design, assessment, and evaluation conducted by the Sirindhorn Thai Language Institute. Additionally, they may serve as committee members responsible for developing test questions, reviewing test quality, assessing and evaluating results, and refining the standards of the Thai Proficiency Test of Thai as a Foreign Language (TH-TFL).
When can TH-TFL test be taken?
The test will be conducted at Chulalongkorn University. The institute will provide details and the test venue at least one week before the test date.

Registration Process
- Firstly please contact our institute via email thtfl@chula.ac.th or cuthaitest@gmail.com or call 0-2218-9481 for appoint the test date.
- After your test date is confirmed by the institute, fill in the online application form in our website.
- Please read application procedures below thoroughly before proceeding to the application form.
- Please complete and verify your information in all blanks on the application form before clicking “submit”.
- After you clicked “submit”, please wait for a while, the system will automatically process the bill payment slip file. Please save and print out to complete your payment in the total amount as mentioned on the slip together with additional 10 Baht fee at any branch of Krung Thai Bank.
- In case that no bill payment slip shown to save or print, please change your browser and refill application form or check your e-mail (also junk mail) given in the application form. If your application is successful, you will receive the bill payment slip in your e-mail to print out for your payment at any branch of Krung Thai Bank.
- After completing your payment, You will receive bill payment slip part 1 (for customer) from the bank. Please photograph/scan and send it back via email thtfl@chula.ac.th or cuthaitest@gmail.com for confirmation.
- Please make sure that all information on the payment slip is correct (especially name, last name, test date, skill of test and total amount of payment). If any error is found, please refill the application form on the website and print out new and correct bill payment slip.
- Please make the payment and send the payment proof via email to thtfl@chula.ac.th before the payment period for your desired test round ends.
- Your application will be completed once the payment at Krung Thai Bank is successful. Please keep the bill payment slip part 1 (for customer) as reference of your payment and present it together with your passport on the test date.
- Your Test Report will be valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
- Please wear decent clothes. (Slippers and shorts are not allowed)

** The Sirindhorn Thai Language Institute reserves the right to refuse any and all refund should any of the aforementioned unforeseen circumstances occur.
** Once applicants have selected the test round, they cannot change or postpone the test round.
** You may not receive or delay receiving the test report due to the unclear and incorrect information (such as name, address) in the application form.
** Invoice/Receipt will be sent via email with test arrangement details.
